I know I’ve been frugal for most of my life to the extent of becoming a miser. However, considering the high-inflation times with consumers stretching their hard-earned dollars to get by nowadays, I think it pays to cut costs more.

Lately, I’ve been quite busy and enjoying fast food. Last year, I remember I told myself I’m avoiding fast food for good. But lately, I’ve been eating out weekly because my Dad — a senior citizen and retiree — wants to eat out especially on Sundays after grocery-shopping.

I told him today that it will just be himself indulging in fast food in the coming months as I’ll be fasting. Anyway, to cut costs and save more of my hard-earned money, I’m doing the following cost-cutting measures for two months, and if I succeed, I’ll continue performing them in the coming months:

  1. Avoid ordering fast food. Consume the food for the week purchased from the supermarket.

2. Continue selling white elephants and recyclable items around my house to junk shops.

3. When shopping or buying something or using a particular service, always check for discounts, rebates, or cashbacks.

4. Strive for “No-Spend Days.”

5. Avoid the shopping mall.

6. Just walk when going to nearby places.

7. Just continue saving, saving, and saving more money. Every penny counts.

The point of all my earning, saving, and investing activities is I want to keep my comfortable lifestyle until I’m old. I don’t want to use the term “retire” since my plan is to continue doing the job I love — writing about money — which I try to make as lucrative as possible for myself.

Moreover, I’m always after cost recovery, wealth and capital preservation, and expanding my asset base. Indeed, I am always after my financial security for my future. Who does not want a comfortable retirement free from financial stress, right?

There are lots of reliable and educational personal finance hacks online regarding how to save more money and cut costs. I listed the measures that are applicable to myself and my current situation above.
