I need to live a little.
~ Wednesday, August 10, 2022 Blog Post ~
I have been writing about inflation, recession, penny-pinching, spending money wisely, and so forth these past few months.
I must say I was merely affected by the financial news stories I’ve read, my Facebook friends’ financial gripes on their social media posts — such as how financially difficult it is to be a parent in this era — and other online posts about how it is hard times for most people these days.
I’m not bragging but I’m financially afloat. I have worked as digital content writer for almost 20 years since I graduated from college in 2004.
Additionally, my personal financial circumstance is due to the fact that I’m not married and do not have any children.
I’m a middle-class career person who does not have any dependents to financially support except myself.
I understand that it is, indeed, hard times for most people these days. The economic crises today is global and no country seems spared.
Inflation, recession in the United States and worldwide, energy crisis, hyperinflation — all of these economic and financial problems are felt today by people in the United States, Norway, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Egypt, the Philippines, Argentina, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka — it’s worldwide, indeed !
We all have to deal with inflation (high prices of food, gasoline, rent, and so on), global recession, energy crisis, armed conflicts between countries, hyperinflation, and other problems that translate to a cost-of-living crisis.
But today, I tried to enjoy my hard-earned money. I ordered and ate fast food. I told myself that I’m just unnecessarily affected by the inflation and recession news I read lately and I know I should not be.
I need to live a little. Next week, I’ll enjoy pizza, perhaps a cheesecake slice, and a Starbucks drink.
Again, I need to live a little. After all, I will not perform these food-indulging and splurging activities daily. It’s just today and sometime next week.
Live a little, Sheena. Haha.
