It is usual for people to grumble about their monthly bills. There is even that saying, “I was not born to just pay bills and die” or “There is no way I was born to just pay bills and die.” Earning a living is tough and can be backbreaking, I know.

Nonetheless, monthly dues are the payables in return for the services and products you availed. You need to settle them. Products and services are SOLUTIONS. Food, gas, utilities, Internet service, apartment units, mortgage, loans, and so forth — these are SOLUTIONS for you to live properly, and they are not free. You need to pay for them because the people — yes, the companies — who offered them also have themselves and their families to feed.

Just like you, they also need to eat and survive. Additionally, your payment as a customer — which is translated to a company’s revenue — is used to improve the service provider’s offerings. Therefore, your payment for your monthly bills is for the SOLUTIONS from which you benefitted.

I learned about the basic yet significant life principle of conscientiously paying my monthly credit card bills on time from my parents. My Dad educated me about the monthly dues being the payment for the SOLUTIONS I availed.

My parents advised me never to complain about my credit card bills because those payables or dues are from what I consumed or used and benefitted from as a consumer. I consider the fundamental life principle an important financial wisdom that has improved my perspective on monthly bills.
