Podcasts on Budget Busters
~ Thursday, November 2, 2023 Blog Post ~
When I was a twentysomething and entered the workforce after graduating from college, I fortunately developed the financially clever habit of saving my hard-earned money, allowance given by my parents, cash gifts, and other windfalls.
I had already been a saver when I was younger, actually. My parents would gift me and my older sister with wallets for children. They also opened a kids’ savings accounts for us to learn about money’s value and the invaluable habit of saving it for future use.
I have always treated my savings as a bill that I needed to pay myself. I agree that a person should pay himself first every payday. After all, he worked hard for that money. Thus, he should first work on setting aside some funds for his savings, or making a deposit in his bank account, then paying his bills next.
Furthermore, I have always been quite smart enough to identify the budget busters. When I was younger, these activities are drinking sprees on girls’ nights out and unnecessary and mindless shopping trips.
These budget busters destroy my calculation and spending plan and prevent me from saving money for “sunny and rainy days”. Luckily, I was able to dodge those unnecessary expenses.
At this point, I still enjoy listening to podcasts about different personal finance topics, including budget busters. These online content are financially educational and amusing. They keep me reminded and guided in my personal finance life.
