I’m absolutely — 100 percent — interested to discover what makes New York City the world’s wealthiest urban area and financial center. Thus, I wrote this blog entry today which I have always wanted to find the time to do so. I’ll update this post or write another related one later on.
According to the 2022 report ranking the 20 richest cities in the world by investment migration consultancy Henley and Partners, which advises the ultra-wealthy on citizenship and residency issues:
6. The financial center of the United States is recognized as the wealthiest city in the world by several measures.
7. The total private wealth held by New York residents was found to exceed US$3 trillion. Remarkably, that’s more than the total private wealth held in most major G-20 countries.
8. Around 4 percent of New York’s 8.38 million citizens own investable assets — property, cash or stocks — worth over US$1 million.
9. Janice McDill, communications manager at housing company Knock, said “New York is in the top decile of expensive markets, and it will continue to be in the top decile.”
